Hagerman said that wind energy can become an important force in South Africa's national power grid. South African government policy on renewable energy target is 2013, the South African renewable energy will provide 10 billion kilowatt hours by the national grid, to South Africa, 4% of total electricity generation. 

 

 

Hagerman said the new South African power company power plant, the cost per MW of power 30 million rand (about 4.28 million U.S. dollars), while wind power stations, the cost per megawatt of electricity is only 20 million to 25 million rand (about 2.85 to 3.57 million U.S. dollars). 

 

Hagerman believes that wind power conversion rate is higher than coal, and cheaper, cleaner, so it is necessary to invest in wind generators.
