The South Korean government recently announced that the Republic of Korea in 2010 will increase investment in new energy field, mainly in solar and wind energy sector, and investment growth rate will reach 52%.
South Korea's minister of economic knowledge February 3 in an e-mail revealed that a number of South Korean state-owned enterprises and private companies in 2010 will be to increase investment in new energy investments, from 2009 to 3 billion U.S. dollars to 4.8 billion U.S. dollars, investment is mainly wind turbines concentrated in the solar, wind, and new areas of fuel cells. In which private companies invested in 2010 will reach 3.4 billion U.S. dollars, while the government and the state-owned companies will invest 1.4 billion.
In order to reduce carbon emissions, South Korea has begun increasing use of new energy sources to replace traditional energy sources, including South Korea in the solar field investment in 2009 reached 1.65 billion U.S. dollars, while in 2010 investments in this area will increase to 26 billion U.S. dollars.
