Texas has been the leading states of wind power generator generating capacity, according to American Wind Generators Association (AWEA) latest report.
American Wind Turbines Association in a report released Tuesday said the state of Texas in 2009 the third generation wind turbine generators capacity increased by 436 megawatts (MW) - more than any other state of the United States.
This makes the United States, Texas, to become the undisputed leader in wind power capacity, with a capacity of 8797 MW. Iowa is ranked second in nearly three times its capacity of 3053 MW. The following three top-five states are California, 2787 MW; Minnesota, 1805 MW; and Oregon, 1659 MW.
Overall, AWEA third-quarter report shows the U.S. wind generators capacity recently added 1649 MW, bringing the total this year, the additional capacity of more than 5800 MW.
